This section contains outlined instructions for how to create a new 'Sequence Diagram'. Below is an outline of the steps necessary for creating a new 'Sequence Diagram' from the 'Entity View' of any new or existing Action entity:

  1. From any view of Innoslate, open the 'MENU' dropdown located on the top navigation bar and click the 'Database' menu item. This will navigate you to the 'Database View' in Innoslate.

Select the Database View Menu Item

Note: If you have the 'Database' button "pinned" to the top navigation bar, use that button instead for one-click access to 'Database View'.

  2. Once in 'Database View', open the 'New Entity' dropdown and click the 'Action' menu item.  This will navigate you to the 'Entity View' in Innoslate where you can begin to enter information into your new Action entity.

    Create a New Action

  3. Once in 'Entity View', enter at least a 'Name' for your new Action entity.

    Name the Root Action

  4. Open the 'Open' dropdown located on the toolbar of 'Entity View' and click the 'Sequence Diagram' menu item within the "SysML Diagrams" section.

Click the Sequence Diagram Menu Item

  5. This will open a dialog which allows you to make a choice between two (2) of the 'Sequence Diagram' modes. Read the descriptions of each to choose which mode best meets your needs. Click the 'Use Event Trace Mode' button to proceed to the 'Sequence Diagram' in Event Trace Mode or click the 'Use IO Trace Mode' button to proceed to the 'Sequence Diagram' in IO Trace Mode.

    Select A Sequence Diagram Mode

For more information on the differences between the modes of the 'Sequence Diagram', see Sequence Diagram Modes.

  6. After selecting a mode you will be navigated to a new 'Sequence Diagram', where you can begin adding and removing diagram constructs. Click the 'Save' button located on the toolbar to persist your changes to your project's database.
