Creating Action Diagrams

This section contains outlined instructions for how to create a new 'Action Diagram'.

Via Project Dashboard

Below is an outline of the steps necessary for creating a new 'Action Diagram' on a new Action entity via 'Dashboard':

  1. From any view of Innoslate, open the 'MENU' dropdown located on the top navigation bar and click the 'Dashboard' menu item. This will navigate you to your project's 'Dashboard' in Innoslate.

    Note: If you have the 'Dashboard' button "pinned" to the top navigation bar, use that button instead for one-click access to your project's 'Dashboard'.

  2. Once in your project's 'Dashboard', locate the 'Getting Started' panel, as shown below, and select 'Functional Analysis' as your area of interest from the 'What is your primary area of interest?' dropdown. A set of links to help you get started with function analysis will fade in from the right.

  3. Click on the 'Create New Action Diagram (LML)' link in the "Functional Analysis" column as shown below.

  4. This opens the 'Enter a Name' dialog, where you must name the root Action entity of your new 'Action Diagram'. Type in a 'Name' and click the 'Continue' button.

  5. This will navigate you to a new 'Action Diagram', where you can begin adding and removing diagram constructs. Remember to save by clicking the 'Save' button located on the toolbar, which will persist your changes to your project's database.

 

Via Entity View

Below is an outline of the steps necessary for creating a new 'Action Diagram' on a new Action entity via 'Entity View':

  1. From any view of Innoslate, open the 'MENU' dropdown located on the top navigation bar and click the 'Database' menu item. This will navigate you to the 'Database View' in Innoslate.

    Note: If you have the 'Database' button "pinned" to the top navigation bar, use that button instead for one-click access to 'Database View'.

  2. Once in 'Database View', open the 'New Entity' dropdown and click the 'Action' menu item.  This will navigate you to the 'Entity View' in Innoslate where you can begin to enter information into your new Action entity.

  3. Once in 'Entity View', enter at least a 'Name' for your new Action entity.

  4. Open the 'Open' dropdown located on the toolbar of 'Entity View' and click the 'Action Diagram' menu item with the "LML Diagrams" section.

  5. This will navigate you to a new 'Action Diagram', where you can begin adding and removing diagram constructs. Click the 'Save' button located on the toolbar to persist your changes to your project's database.
