Innoslate 3.8 Release Notes

The Innoslate team is pleased to announce the latest version of Innoslate, Innoslate 3.8, is now available via the public cloud.

Below is an outline of the changes made to Innoslate which occurred after the release of Version 3.7 on Thursday, October 20th 2016 and before the release of Version 3.8 on Thursday, February 23rd 2017:

New Features:

  • Added: New ‘Test Center’ view built to support Verification and Validation processes provides the ability to create, manage, and run suites of test cases.
  • Added: New ‘Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM)’ (a table identifying which test cases verify each requirement) report accessible via Requirements View.
  • Added: New ‘Verification Cross-Reference Matrix (VCRM)’ (a table identifying each requirements’s verification method(s)) report accessible via Requirements View.
  • Added: New ‘Test Cases Output’ (a dump of the test cases) report accessible via Test Center.
  • Added: New ‘Test Verification Matrix (TVM)’ (a table identifying which requirement each test case verifies) report accessible via Test Center.
  • Added: Ability to upload Computer-aided design (CAD) (.stl, .obj) files within any File attribute via Entity View.
  • Added: Ability to visualize a uploaded CAD file with an integrated 3D viewer.
  • Added: Ability to generate a hierarchy of Asset entities model automatically from information within a CAD file (.obj only).
  • Added: Automatic checks to the “Quality Check” feature of Requirements View for the Traceable quality indicator attribute.
  • Added: Automatic checks to the “Quality Check” feature of Requirements View for the Verifiable quality indicator attribute.
  • Added: Intelligence Analysis which runs 67 heuristics to assess your project’s quality and provides links to automatically fix most issues found.
  • Added: Ability to import XMI files from IBM Rational Software Architect (RSA) and No Magic MagicDraw (Enterprise Only).
  • Added: New API functions to allow exporting an Innoslate project to Microsoft Access (Enterprise Only).
  • Added: New ‘Zip File Exchange’ full export which contains all your project’s data including uploaded files and images (Enterprise Only).
  • Added: Help Center website (https://help.innoslate.com) as the new home for all Innoslate documentation replacing docs.innoslate.com.
  • Added: Option to Plain Text tab of Import Analyzer to automatically prepend parent number to each child’s number.
  • Added: New ‘Advanced Hierarchical Table’ (a table of this entity’s full trace decomposition and optionally its selected related entities) report accessible via Entity View.

Enhancements:

  • Improved: Automatic checks of the Clear quality indicator attribute used by the “Quality Check” feature of Requirements View.
  • Improved: Automatic checks of the Complete quality indicator attribute used by the “Quality Check” feature of Requirements View.
  • Improved: Automatic checks of the Consistent quality indicator attribute used by the “Quality Check” feature of Requirements View.
  • Improved: Automatic checks of the Design quality indicator attribute used by the “Quality Check” feature of Requirements View.
  • Improved: Quality Score calculation which now omits hidden attributes and rounds to the nearest whole number.
  • Improved: Speed of automatic checks performed by the “Quality Check” feature of Requirements View.
  • Improved: User experience when utilizing the “Generate Asset Diagram” feature of the Action Diagram.
  • Improved: User experience when utilizing the “Generate Functional Requirements” feature of the Action Diagram.
  • Improved: User experience when dropping new or existing Parameter constructs in the Parameteric Diagram.
  • Improved: Innoslate XML file import which now removes any illegal unicode characters and automatically replaces old identifiers in simulation scripts.
  • Improved: User experience when using the Block Definition Diagram (BDD) in the Mozilla Firefox web browser.
  • Improved: Plain text parsing using NLP to better determine what text should be placed in the name field versus the description field.
  • Improved: All DOCX reports by adding support to output numbered and bulleted lists nested within a table.
  • Improved: Line routing across all available Innoslate diagrams except the IDEF0 Diagram.
  • Improved: User experience when visualizing data using Bar Graphs and Line Graphs in the Discrete Event and Monte Carlo Simulators.
  • Improved: Importing and copying of line placements of the Asset Diagram and Layer Diagram.
  • Improved: Detecting when a diagram construct has been selected across all available Innoslate diagrams.
  • Improved: Warning message when importing an Innoslate XML file from later versions of Innoslate.
  • Improved: Action Diagram by only displayed the Remove button for shapes that are allowed to be removed.
  • Improved: Entity Definition Report to support using diagram tiles instead of the full resolution images.
  • Improved: Entity Table Report to allow selecting the same relationship for multiple levels of relative relationships.
  • Improved: Visualization of changes of long entity descriptions in the History dialog accessible via Entity View.
  • Improved: Stability of the “Flatten” feature of the Action Diagram.
  • Improved: Stevens Auto Grader to better match the current rubric.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed: Issue which intermittently caused the Monte Carlo Simulator to fail and not return the correct data.
  • Fixed: Issue which caused changes to your current project to not save before using the ‘Switch Project’ drop-down to navigate to a different project.
  • Fixed: Issue which caused the Microsoft Project export to output different units of time than what was captured in Innoslate.
  • Fixed: Issue which caused the Input/Output Size attribute and Conduit Capacity attribute to not work properly with distributions during simulation.
  • Fixed: Issue which caused search in Database View to fail when filtering the view by a class whose name contains a space character.
  • Fixed: Issue which intermittently caused Output constructs in the IDEF0 Diagram to not route properly.
  • Fixed: Issue which intermittently caused one-way relationships to be created.
  • Fixed: Issue which intermittently caused diagram tiles to not re-generate properly if only the name changed.
  • Fixed: Issue which allowed the Start and End nodes of the Action Diagram to be decomposed.

Deletions:

  • Removed: Original “Classic” version of the Discrete Event Simulator.
  • Removed: Old ‘Reports View’ originally added in Innoslate version 3.0.
