The ‘Auto Number’ function is used to add a new prefix to the number of the diagram's root entity and all of its children.
- From within your diagram, click the [icon name="wrench" prefix="fas"] wrench icon in the upper right corner and then click 'Auto Number' from the dropdown menu.
- A modal will appear where you can select your desired options by clicking the checkbox next to your preference.
The option ‘Use the action order to determine the number sequence’ renumbers your entities to be in chronological order in which they started.
The option ‘Only autonumber immediate children (single level)’ only renumbers the root entity and entities that decompose the root, not any further levels of decomposition. If this option was selected, the root's grandchildren and their children would keep the same number as before the 'Auto Number' function was carried out.
Enter the prefix of your choice by typing in the text box below ‘Prefix’.
When you're ready, click the 'Run' button.
- This will apply the autonumbering to the entities related to the diagram root entity and then save all the changes, including changes you made to the diagram, so make sure you are ready to save everything before running the 'Auto Number'. Notice that the numbers on the Action entities in the diagram were updated with our chosen prefix of '1' and then their action order number.
